jakob at streipel dot se
All right, time for introduction - my name is Jakob Streipel and I am a (soon-to-be, 27th of August, actually) sixteen years old nerd form the capital of Sweden, although I am moving to Brussels, Belgium, in less than a month (the twenty-fourth of July, more precisely). As you can see from the picture above, I am a very funny prick. Sort of. Perhaps.
My main interest is photography, which is followed tightly by computer science and designing and snooker. Although I have only been photographing seriously for almost a year, I consider myself good, and it is very satisfying to watch my own progress.
The reason for why I started snapping pictures most of my time is that I have always liked to create stuffs, be it lego robots or sketches of a teddy-bear. Back in July last year I went to a Harry Potter convention (I am obviously quite the fan of the heptalogy) I borrowed my mother’s old Digital SLR to make the memories last forever and ever and ever (till my hard drive burns, that is). During the event I shot everything with fully-automatic, as I didn’t know squat about how to change the different settings. Either way, as I was there, photographing, I realized how amusing I found it, and I decided to take my time as I got home to read through the manual of the manual settings and really give it a try. Said and done, and from that day I have been trying to get better and better for each and every dawn - and I think I’ve succeeded so far.
Nowadays I practice my hobby with a Canon EOS 50D, which is a very competent camera for anyone who’s not willing to sell both his kidney and his leg. I lack of references other than my mother’s old camera, but the 50 fulfill my needs and I am very happy with it.
Mounted on the camera one would find either my 50mm or my 30mm primes with a maximum aperture of 1,4 - I realize only other engaged photographers will understand most of the terms in this paragraph… Perhaps we should make it our own secret code-language!
